Responsible technology

AI-use policy

This policy explains the safeguards that apply where approved artificial-intelligence tools support the firm’s administrative or professional work.

Working draft · Last updated 4 September 2026

Human responsibility

AI does not replace the professional judgement, duties or accountability of a lawyer. A qualified professional remains responsible for legal analysis, advice, documents and decisions communicated to a client. The website does not provide automated legal advice or determine whether the firm can act.

Potential permitted uses

Subject to approval, confidentiality and matter-specific controls, AI may support bounded tasks such as administrative organisation, internal knowledge retrieval, preliminary research, translation assistance, document comparison, drafting support and quality checks. Outputs must be reviewed for accuracy, relevance, bias, confidentiality and legal context before use.

Confidentiality and personal data

Personal or confidential information must be minimised and may be processed only in approved environments with appropriate contractual, technical and access safeguards. Client information must not be entered into public consumer tools or used to train external models unless a lawful, authorised and transparent basis has been established.

No solely automated legal decisions

The firm does not intend to use the public website or an AI tool to make a final decision about legal rights, legal strategy, client acceptance or the outcome of a matter without meaningful human involvement. Automated output is treated as assistive material rather than authority.

Accuracy, bias and source checking

AI output may be incomplete, outdated or incorrect. Lawyers and authorised staff must check primary sources, verify quotations and citations, consider jurisdiction and date, and assess whether the tool may reproduce bias or omit relevant facts.

Transparency and questions

Where an AI-assisted process materially affects a client service or the handling of personal data, the firm should provide proportionate information and an appropriate human contact. Questions or requests for human review may be sent to the contact address shown below.

Governance and review

Approved tools, use cases, risk assessments, processor terms, retention settings and access permissions should be documented internally and reviewed as law, professional guidance and technology change. This public policy does not claim certification under any specific AI regime.
